War in Ukraine: Poland calls for tougher sanctions against Russia

THE Russian invasion of Ukraine poses “existential threat” to peace in Europe, warns PM Poland.

“Today we are focusing on the situation in Ukraine, because (the Russian attack) is an existential threat to peace in Europe,” he said. Mateusz Morawiecki on Tuesday, following a meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyenin Brussels.

The Polish Prime Minister said that his country wants to impose itself on Russia stronger sanctionsamong which is the ban on the import of Russian coal, as reported by Reuters.

«We can impose an embargo on Russian coal even tomorrow. We are ready for this, we just want the consent of the European Commission as soon as possibleHe also called on Europe to stop buying Russian gas and oil in the coming months.

Poland also suggested that they be imposed sanctions and Russia’s ally, in Belarusas soon as possible and according to Morawiecki Ursula von der Layen agreed.
