War in Ukraine: Russia claims to have shot down two Ukrainian ATACMS missiles

Her Ministry of Defense of Russia announced today the downing of two American ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile Systems) missiles launched by the Ukrainian armed forces against Russian troops.

The ministry’s update did not include details about the area where the missiles were intercepted. However, the Russian media point out that this is the first time that the downing of ATACMS, long-range ballistic missiles recently acquired by Ukraine, has been announced.

The Reuters news agency emphasizes that it is unable to verify the report of the Russian Ministry of Defense, while so far there is no comment from Kiev or Washington.

Last week, Ukraine announced that it had used missiles of this type for the first time to hit two airports in areas occupied by Russian troops.
