Her army Russia developed more forces in the eastern and southern part of Ukraineannounced yesterday Monday (18/4) the American Pentagon.
“We see the Russians continuing the flow of capabilities that will help them in the battle for Donbass”said the spokesman of the US Department of Defense, the John Kirbywhile informing accredited authors.
He clarified that he refers to “artillery”σε “Aircraft and helicopters” and inside “Administration and control”. “We believe that they have increased the number of their battalions in eastern and southern Ukraine”he added.
Mr. Kirby noted that he was not going to give details about the positions of the Russian forces, however he added that “Regardless of this”Washington observes concentration of airstrikes and artillery strikes in southeastern Donbass and in the south, “Especially around and in Mariupol”.
“In recent days the Russians have been doing what we call shaping” of the field, the Pentagon spokesman continued. “They are trying to create the conditions for more aggressive, more open and bigger land maneuvers in Donbas”he added.
He also referred to “Chronic difficulties” which Washington sees in logistics, communications, business maneuvering, and air and land resources cooperation. “It remains to be seen whether they have solved these problems and are now ready to carry out more efficiently (their business plans) in Donbass.”.
However, Kirby in an interview he gave to CNN says it does not take Mariupol to fall into Russian hands. He stressed that “if there is one thing we have learned after 55 days of war in Ukraine, it is that nothing can be taken for granted.”
