An alarm was sounded on Sunday night (16/10) in the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv where Russian drones hit tanks with sunflower oil at one of the terminals.
One of its largest ports UkrainianMykolayiv, suspended exports at the start of the Russian invasion, but Zelensky’s country is pushing to reopen to increase food shipments under a deal brokered by the United Nations and Turkey.
“In Mykolayiv, three drones hit an industrial infrastructure target, where sunflower oil tanks caught fire” pointed out the mayor of the city, Oleksandr Senkevich, as reported by the Athens News Agency, while war in Ukraine to be continued.
The attack took place just hours before explosions took place in the country’s capital, Kyiv from possibly Iranian-made drones, which are increasingly being used by Russia for attacks on Ukrainian soil.
The regional emergency response agency released photos showing huge tanks, with flames and smoke rising above the facility.
Mykolaiv, which is located near the Russian-held Kherson region, has been bombed incessantly in recent months.
Port terminals have already been hit twice in June and August.
Ukraine is launching a counterattack to push Russian troops from Kherson to the southeast of the country.
