War in Ukraine: Russia is using 40-year-old ammunition, claims US military

A high-ranking American military officer claimed that the Russia uses aged ammunition to war with Ukraine and even more than 40 years old, since it exhausts its normal reserves.

The Russians are “drawing from the stockpile of aging munitions, which suggests they are willing to use these older munitions, some of which were produced more than 40 years ago,” said the official, who asked not to be named.

“In other words, you load the ammunition and say your prayer hoping that the gun will fire or, when (the projectile) lands, it will explode,” he added.

It is noted that Russia decided to send the legendary Mosin rifle as reinforcements to the frontwhich was successfully used by the Red Army.

The five-shot repeating rifle is lightweight and easy to use without special training, and can engage targets at long range, with the only downside being that it can jam and require the user to feed the bullets one at a time, rather than loading a magazine. However, it is uncertain whether it will be successful against an AK-47 or other modern weapon systems.
