War in Ukraine: Russia will suffer consequences if it uses chemical weapons, US says

A new warning was issued by the American ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, saying that if Russia uses chemical weaponsduring war in Ukrainethen it will suffer the consequences.

“It simply came to our notice then. The Russians have used chemical weapons in the past. “And we are concerned that they may do it again,” she said.

“We have made it clear that if the Russians escalate the tension and reach this point, then we will respond aggressively. “Both Vladimir Putin and his country’s oligarchs are already facing the consequences through sanctions and will feel more pressure if they use chemical weapons,” added Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

In recent days, the United States and NATO have expressed concern that the Kremlin may use chemical weapons, citing the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny and the poisoning of Agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter, G. London.

At the same time, the United States recalls that the Assad regime, which had the support of the Russian government, in the past used chemicals, repeatedly, at the expense of civilians.
