War in Ukraine: Russian ambassador accuses the US of prolonging the conflict

Her ambassador of Russia in the US accused Washington of not having the slightest intention of helping to end the war in Ukraine, which began with the invasion of the Russian army on February 24, 2022, reacting to the announcement that the US would supply the Ukrainian armed forces with armored fighting vehicles ( CUT).

Recent moves by the US make it clear that it has no intention of pursuing a political solution to end the armed conflict in UkraineAnatoly Antonov said, according to Russian state news agency TASS.

“There should be no doubt about who is responsible for prolonging the conflict”said the diplomat.

He made this comment a few hours after Govt USA and Germany announced that they will supply the Ukrainian armed forces respectively with Bradleys and Marders—the first Western-made armored fighting vehicles they will ever receive—while earlier this week, the French government announced it was sending armored reconnaissance vehicles equipped with powerful guns, designated as “light tanks”.

For Russian Ambassador Antonov, weapons delivered to Kyiv are anything but “defensive in nature”, as Western governments say. The US administration’s decision to send Bradley confirms “that the US was not going to listen to repeated pleas from the Russian side to consider the potential complications of the very dangerous course” they are taking, he insisted.
