War in Ukraine: Russian army destroys two military air bases

A high-precision, long-range attack on two military air bases was launched by the Russian army in the cities of Lutsk and Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine and made them non-operational, said Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for Russia’s Defense Ministry.

He noted that since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces have destroyed more than 3,210 Ukrainian military infrastructure and equipment.

Earlier, Konashenkov had pointed out that pro-Russian separatist guerrillas occupy the Ukrainian city of Volnovacha, north of Mariupola port city in the Sea of Azov that has been besieged for days by the Russian army.

Volnovacha is considered of strategic importance as it is the northern gateway to Mariupol.

The TASS news agency, quoting Reuters and the Athens News Agency, quoted an anonymous source as saying that about 222,000 people had fled from Ukraine to Russia and the two breakaway provinces in eastern Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk.
