War in Ukraine: Russian army tries to “exterminate” saboteurs who entered border area

The Russian army is today trying to “exterminate” a group of “saboteurs” who entered the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, the local governor announced, according to which a civilian was killed and a child was injured. “A reconnaissance and sabotage team entered the village of Liubetsane from Ukraine (…) the Russian Armed Forces they are taking all the necessary measures in order to eliminate this group”, Alexander Bogomaz said on Telegram.

As he said, “the saboteurs opened fire on a moving vehicle”, as a result of which “a resident was killed and a ten-year-old child was injured” and taken to the hospital, reports APE-MPE. According to the Russian news agencies Ria Novosti, TASS and Interfax, citing eyewitnesses and sources in the security services and rescue teams, the Ukrainian team took hostages. AFP notes that it is unable to verify this information from an independent source. Bogomaz also reported a Ukrainian drone strike (drone) in the village of Suchani in the same area resulting in an outbreak fire to a house, as well as a mortar attack that destroyed two houses in the community of Lomakovka, also in Bryansk region.

Russian areas bordering Ukraine have been targeted by shelling several times since the conflict broke out, but it is very rare for authorities to speak of a sabotage group.
