War in Ukraine – Russian UN diplomat says ashamed: Lavrov described as “depiction of decline”

The resignation was submitted by the adviser of the Russian permanent delegation to the UN in Geneva Boris Bodarev, who publicly opposed war in Ukraine and called Sergei Lavrov a “depiction of decline.”

Boris Bodarev announced his decision on his Facebook page, where he wrote: “In the twenty years of my diplomatic career, I have seen various turns in our foreign policy. but I have never felt such shame for my country as on the 24th of February this year».

“The aggressive war waged by Russian President Vladimir Putin against Ukraine, but in fact against the whole of the Western world, is not only a crime against the Ukrainian people, but I would even say a heinous crime against the people of Russia, which in bold “Z erased all hopes and prospects for a prosperous and free society in our country,” he pointed out, as broadcast by the Athenian News Agency.

Bodarev also said that one of the goals of those who unleashed the war was to stay in power forever, on the altar of which they were willing to sacrifice as many lives as needed. “Thousands of Russians and Ukrainians have already been killed,” he said.

“Unfortunately, I have to point out that during these twenty years the level of lies and pseudo-professionalism in the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been constantly increasing. However, in recent years this has become catastrophic, “Bodarev was quoted as saying by the Athens News Agency.

“Within 18 years, Lavrov went from being an educated intellectual to a man who threatens the world.”

According to him, “the best reflection of the decline of this system was the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov». “Within 18 years he became a professional and educated intellectual, so valued by my colleagues, a man who constantly makes contradictory statements and threatens the world (including Russia as well) with nuclear weapons,” Bodarev said.

Today, the Russian Foreign Ministry does not deal with diplomacy, Bodarev points out. “Everything goes back to incitement to war, to lies, to hatred. “This serves the interests of a few, very few people, who in this way contribute to the further isolation and decline of my country.”

Bodarev adds that he has been a diplomat for twenty years and that the Foreign Ministry was for him “his home and his family”. “But I just can no longer participate in this bloody, meaningless and completely unnecessary shame,” he concluded in his statement.

Bodarev is probably the first Russian diplomat to announce his resignation over the war in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on his resignation.

In March, diplomats from dozens of European countries walked out of the UN Human Rights Council as Lavrov’s speech at the disarmament conference was broadcast.
