Shopping mall was bombed at night in Kyiv, resulting in six people losing their lives, as a journalist of the French Agency found out. At the same time, Russian forces are continuing their offensive to encircle the Ukrainian capital.
Six bodies were laid to rest earlier today in front of the Retroville Mall in northwestern Kievthe journalist reported. The mall was hit very hard, pulverizing cars in the parking lot and opening a giant crater several meters in front of the ten-storey building that was still smoking.
The entire southern part of the large shopping center was destroyed, as well as a private gym located in the parking lot, the reporter found.
Firefighters and the military were searching for the wreckage to determine if there were any other casualties, according to the Athens News Agency.
During the night, the emergency services reported that “enemy fire” caused fires on several floors of the shopping center in the Podilsky district.
They made it public CCTV footage that recorded the first massive explosion of a mushroom-shaped cloud of smoke, followed by a series of smaller explosions.
Other shots show firefighters removing one of the wreckage, covered in dust.
Locals, residents of a neighboring building whose windows were shattered by the blast, said they had seen a multi-rocket launcher near the mall a few days earlier, without giving further details.
The initial explosion at the mall resounded throughout the capital, French Agency reporters reported.
