War in Ukraine: The head of the IAEA is “concerned and will continue to be concerned” about the nuclear plant

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency visited him nuclear power plant of Zaporizhia in Ukraineafter the last “blind” strikes that have occurred in the area.

“We’re not going anywhere. The IAEA is now here, it is in the factory and it is not moving – he will stay here”, said Raphael Grossi to journalists.

Those experts, he said, would provide what he called an unbiased, technically neutral, evidence-based assessment of what’s happening on the ground. “I have been concerned, I am concerned and I will continue to be concerned about the plant until we have a situation that is more stable, more predictable“, he stated.

A part of the IAEA mission will remain until “Sunday or Monday” at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. The IAEA intends to “have a continuous presence” at the plant beyond that date, Grossi said without elaborating.

“There is a team that will remain there until Sunday or Monday to continue the assessment” of the situation at the station, whose site has been bombed repeatedly prompting fears of a nuclear disaster, he added, speaking to reporters.
