Its Ministry of Defense Russia announced today that its port Mariupol, the Ukrainian city captured after a three-month siege, is operating normally. Earlier in the day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Russia was in contact with the United Nations and that Moscow “does not rule out the possibility of comprehensive talks on the opening of Ukrainian ports.”
In the meantime, as reported by APE-MPE, the Lithuania announced that it will transport 20 armored personnel carriers M113 to Ukraineas well as military trucks and demining vehicles.
“Coordinated assistance from us and our allies is the decisive factor in Ukraine’s victory,” said Defense Minister Arvindas Anusauskas in a statement issued by his ministry.
The vehicles are worth a total of 15.5m euros, according to the defense ministry. Lithuania has provided 100 million euros in military aid to Ukraine, the statement added.
In another development, the Hungary will allow Serbia to store certain quantities of natural gas in the neighboring country’s storage facilities for the coming winter, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Sigiarto said today, following talks with Serbia’s Finance Minister.
Hungary has the capacity to store at least 6 billion cubic meters of gas.
Sigiarto also repeated that Hungary will not support an EU proposal for an embargo on Russian oil until a solution is found to ensure Hungary’s energy security.
