Kyiv announced that it bombed a bridge in the occupied Kherson region

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army announced that it bombed a bridge in the Kherson regionwhich the Russian forces have captured, making this bridge impassable, after bombings that targeted another major axis of logistical support in this area.

According to the Southern Command of the Ukrainian armed forces, this strike targeted a bridge near the Khakhovka hydroelectric station and “destroyed” it. “The bombing was precise and effective,” he said in a post on Facebook.

On August 8, the Ukrainian military announced that it had bombed another bridge located in the same area, Antonivskyi, strategically important for the logistical support of Russian forces.

On the outskirts of the occupied city of Kherson, this bridge over the Dnieper was already targeted and partially destroyed on July 27, forcing the Russian military to install drawbridges.

Kherson, the capital of the region of the same name, is located a few kilometers from the war front. Vital to Ukrainian agriculture, the region is also strategically important because it borders the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Moscow in 2014.

Ukrainian forces say they have been waging a slow-moving counteroffensive in the country’s south for several weeks, which Kyiv says has enabled the recapture of dozens of villages from the Russian army.
