War in Ukraine: Turkish footballer refuses to wear “no to war” T-shirt

Aykut Demir, who is the leader of Erzurumspor in the second division of Turkish football, was the only player in the match against Ankaragutsu who did not wear a jersey in solidarity with Ukraine, with the message “No to war”.

A move that provoked reactions on social media, with many criticizing Demir, who wanted to explain the reasons why he did not wear the jersey, as his teammates and opponents did before the match.

«Thousands of people die every day in the Middle East. I am also sad about everything that is happening in Ukraine. I share the pain of innocent people. The teams only make such moves when it comes to Europe. “I did not like the idea of wearing a shirt now, since we did not wear it for these countries either”, said the 33-year-old leader of Erzurumspor, Aikut Demir.
