War in Ukraine: Two dead and three wounded by Russian drone strike

Two people were killed and three injured in Khmelnytskyi in the west Ukrainefollowing a Russian attack with more than 10 Iranian-made drones during last night, as announced by the authorities.

One of the dead was a member of the rescue services who was killed in the line of dutyMayor Oleksandr Simchitsyne said on Telegram, saying that “buildings were damaged” by the strikes.

A little later, the governor of the Khmelnytskyi region, Serhiy Gamalii, announced on Telegram the death of a second rescuer, who succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Gamalii also reported three strikes overnight against the city, which is about 350 kilometers southwest of Kiev and had about 275,000 residents before the Russian invasion.

In total, Russia sent up to “14 Iranian-made Shahed combat drones” against Ukraine, Ukraine’s air force announced this morning, of which 11 were shot down by air defenses. Nine drones were shot down around Kyiv, the military administration of the capital announced.
