War in Ukraine: Ukrainians want to buy Iron Dome from Israel

Her ambassador Of Ukraine in the Israel called on the government to sell its air defense system Iron Dome and provide anti-tank missiles so that Ukrainian forces can deal more effectively with Russian attacks.

THE Gevgen Kornitsuk went so far as to accuse Israel of blocking the sale of the modern defense system. However, he called on the Israeli government to abide by its word and to provide military assistance to Ukraine.

Speaking at a news conference in Tel Aviv, he revealed that Ukraine wants to buy the Iron Dome system, stressing that the United States would not object to such a move.

The United States has been supporting the development and production of the Iron Dome for nearly a decade. During this time it is estimated that they have given about $ 1.6 billion for the development and maintenance of the system, according to the Congressional Research Service. The Iron Dome is designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets.

Kornitsuk also stressed that Israel rejected the US request to Germany to cede Israeli-made “Spike” anti-tank missiles to Ukraine. The “Spike” would give the Ukrainians more opportunity to face the Russian attacks in conjunction with the Javelin. “I want the government to step out of its security zone and face the reality,” Kornitsuk said.

Israel has reduced its support for Ukraine to humanitarian aid. According to the Associated Press, he wants not to escalate tensions with Russia, which has a military presence in neighboring Syria.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is now waiting for the new package of military aid from Great Britain, as promised by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a conversation he had with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. At the same time, the chairman of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, David McAllister, argued yesterday that Ukraine should be supplied with the weapons it needs.
