The government of United States of America expressed its “concern” that the Russian forces that have invaded Ukraine may try to “understand” research structures for “Biological” weapons.
“Ukraine has biological research facilities, and we are really worried at the moment about the possibility of Russian forces trying to seize them,” US Secretary of State Victoria Nuland told a parliamentary hearing.
“We are therefore working with the Ukrainians on ways to prevent materials related to this investigation from falling into the hands of Russian forces,” he added. The deputy foreign minister, meanwhile, attacked Russia, saying the war was based on the lies of a man (Vladimir Putin) and his perverted rhetoric.
Republican Sen. Marco Rubio stressed that “Russian propaganda” was talking about an alleged Ukrainian “plan” to use “biological weapons in the country in coordination with NATO.”
“If there was an incident or an attack with a biological or chemical weapon in Ukraine, would it be 100% clear to you that the perpetrators were the Russians?” the senator asked the official.
“There is no doubt in my mind,” and “this is a classic Russian technique of blaming others for what they intend to do themselves,” Victoria Nuland replied.
Recently, however, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenko stressed that the Russian military had discovered that hasty traces of a “biological weapons program by the Kiev regime” had been destroyed. He said Ukrainian forces had destroyed pathogens, including cholera and plague, on the first day of a Russian-led invasion on February 24. The Russian Defense Ministry released documents in Ukrainian, claiming that the program was funded by the United States.
