Videos capturing the executions of Russian soldiers who had surrendered to Ukrainian forces prompted United Nations to call for investigations to be carried out and for Moscow to declare how it will find those responsible.
A representative of the UN High Commission for Human Rights in Geneva said yesterday Monday to the German Agency that he is aware of this.
“Allegations of summary executions of people hors de combat must be investigated immediately, fully and effectively, and the perpetrators must be held accountable,” the spokesman said, using the French term for of international law for those who are unable to fight or perform their duties during armed conflicts.
The videos went viral on social networking sites last week. They show Russian soldiers, prisoners of their Ukrainian rivals, lying on the ground. Gunfire ensues. Another video shows more than ten bodies.

They are said to have been taken in mid-November when the Ukrainian army captured the village of Makiivka, in Luhansk Oblast, in the eastern part of Ukrainian.
Experts who spoke to the New York Times assured that they are authentic.
Kyiv argued that it was an act of self-defense because a prisoner opened fire. The heavenly forces returned fire, so they did the right thing, according to the Ukrainian human rights commissioner.
The representative of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, explained yesterday that Moscow will look for the perpetrators on its own, who, as he stressed, should be “punished”, as reported by the Athens News Agency.
