Ukraine President Volodimir Zelenski will today go to Berlin to participate with German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz at a video conference with US President Donald Trump, a government source told Reuters. The German newspaper Bild announced first, citing unnamed sources, this visit, which is being held as Mertz hosts a series of telecommunications ahead of the planned summit of US President Donald Trump with Russian counterpart. Mertz’s talks today will also be attended by leaders of Finland, France, Britain, Italy, Poland and the EU, as well as NATO. Ukraine hopes these telecommunications will serve – at least in part – as a European counterweight at the Alaska Summit, as Zelenski and his supporters are trying to prevent the danger of Kiev’s interests from sacrificing the altar of a truce.
