War in Ukraine: ‘We hammered a mercenary who defected,’ says Wagner chief

The statements of Yevgeny Prikozin, head of the mercenary group Wagner, which operates in favor of Russia in war in Ukraineafter declaring that one of his mercenaries who defected to the other side was murdered with hammers.

In accordance with bbc.com Yevgeny referred to Yevgeny Nuzin, a former member of Wagner who defected to Ukraine in September. In fact, a video of his execution was published over the weekend on a Telegram channel associated with Wagner.

In it, the 55-year-old tells how he was recruited in August by the company “because the Motherland is in danger”. He had even been recruited by Prigozhin himself, who had come to the prison where he was being held.

The video was commented by the founder of Wagner and a close friend of Vladimir Putin, Yevgeny Prigozhin. He said in a statement that Nuzin “betrayed the people and his comrades”. He added sarcastically that the video is brilliantly directed and should be called “Dog’s Death for a Dog”.

Also, in an interview with Ukrainian journalists he said that he was sent with others to the front line “like cannon fodder”. If he did not comply with the orders, he faced summary execution. However, he was assigned to collect the bodies of the dead soldiers and thus managed to cross the Ukrainian lines.

In the video, Nuzin says that while walking in Kyiv on November 11, he felt a blow to the head that left him unconscious. When he awoke he found he was in a basement. Soon after, an unknown man appears and attacks Nuzin with a sledgehammer. When he fell, his executioner finished him off with hammers.
