War in Ukraine: Zelensky visits troops in Mykolaev

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky visited soldiers on the southern front line during a business trip to the Mykolaev region, he said today, without specifying when the visit took place.

Wearing his characteristic khaki T-shirt, the president presented medals and took selfies with armed men in what appeared to be an underground shelter, according to a video posted on his official Telegram account.

“Our brave men. “Each of them works to the maximum,” he said. “Undoubtedly we will keep strong! Undoubtedly we will win! ”

The Russian forces reached the outskirts of the regional capital Mykolaev in early March, but were then repulsed on the eastern and southern borders of the region, where fighting continues.

Zelensky’s office said the president also visited the city and inspected the damaged regional administration building, where 37 people were killed in late March when a rocket exploded inside the building.

He also visited a hospital in Mykolayev and awarded honors to Mayor Oleksandr Senkevich and Governor Vitaly Kim for their work during the four months of the Russian invasion, his office said in a separate statement.
