In his letter of resignation, Mr Josh Paul, posted on his LinkedIn page, argued that the supply of arms and ammunition to Israel is “impulsive” and “extremely disappointing.” years said that: “the blind support of the Biden administration in one direction only leads to policy decisions that are short-sighted, destructive, unjust and contradictory to the very values ​​we publicly espouse” he said and added: “Israel’s reaction, and together American support for both this backlash and the occupation status quo can only lead to more and deeper suffering for both the Israeli and Palestinian people,” he said. “I’m afraid we’re repeating the same mistakes we made in previous decades and I refuse to be a part of that anymore,” he concluded.
In an interview, Mr. Paul said that the blockade of the Gaza Strip from Israel without water, food, medical care and electricity should normally trigger protections provided by federal laws created to keep American weapons out of the hands of human rights abusers. “But these legal safeguards are not working,” the official said.
“The problem with all these provisions is that it is up to the executive branch to decide whether they have actually been noted human rights violationssaid Mr Paul. “The decision is not made by some non-partisan academic entity and there is no incentive for the president to make any such decision.”
