Only the USA stand between the carnage and the cease-fire at Gauzeits foreign minister said Turkey referring to the vote, on Tuesday, in the UN General Assembly. Recalling that 153 countries voted in favor of the resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Haqqan Fidan said a similar resolution had been approved by just 121 votes before and that there had been a significant increase in positive votes in the intervening period.
“We saw that many countries that previously abstained or voted against decided to stand by it Palestine. This clearly shows the will of the international community to end the oppression”, he pointed out in his statements from the capital of Baku, Azerbaijan, which he is visiting today.
“We expect the US not to further obstruct the decisions of its Security Council UN (s.s. for Palestine). Right now, only the US alone stands in the way between the ceasefire and the massacre in Gaza,” the Turkish foreign minister added.
Referring to the ongoing negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, he stated that Ankara supports the “peace talks”. He added that he does not see any obstacle regarding the normalization of Turkey’s relations with Armenia. “We are waiting for the peace agreement (of Armenia) with Azerbaijan to be concluded,” he noted.
