https://youtu.be/yhlusztphdoo president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said today that the continuous involvement of the United States in peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia was “important” by expressing his country’s commitment to the continuity of direct negotiations with Kremlin.
“We are discussing with our partners the details and ideas of yesterday’s conversation with the American president [Donald] Trump. It is important for the United States to continue to participate in the peace process, ”said Zelensky after yesterday’s telephone call between Trump and Vladimir Putin.
“It is America that they fear in Russia. It is the American influence that can save many lives to influence Putin for the end of the war,” added the Ukrainian leader.
After his two -hour connection with Putin, Trump said Ukraine and Russia should talk directly, “as they only know.”
The Ukrainian President added that discussions on future direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are underway.
“We continue to work at various levels with the United States about sanctions. We are convincing them that this is what is needed to prevent Putin from lying over the end of the war. Time will give us right,” Zelensky said.
Earlier today, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that threatening Russia with additional sanctions could make Moscow stop talking about a possible end of the war with Ukraine.
