Motion Picture Group, during the CinemaCon conference, officially announced the creation of a sequel to the film “Batman”, in which the main role, which is highly expected, will be played by Robert Pattinson. And although the audience met the Batman without much enthusiasm in March of this year, the project was again given to Matt Reeves (Matt Reeves) – he will act as a screenwriter and director of the sequel. Probably, his candidacy was approved by the bosses of the film company due to the financial success of the first picture with Pattinson in the title role – for the next reboot of The Dark Knight, this is really a success.
The fact is that the 2022 Batman, according to Deadline, earned $760 million at the box office on a budget of $200 million. Moreover, almost immediately after the release in theaters, the film went to the HBO Max streaming service, where 4.1 million households watched the film in the first week. Of course, distributors don’t really like such quick releases on streaming platforms, but the situation for the project turned out to be just fine. However, in addition to the official announcement of the sequel, the developers of the project did not report anything else – neither the storyline, nor the cast, nor at least an approximate release date.
That said, a second film featuring Pattinson in a stylish cape suit isn’t the only thing to look forward to from the Batman franchise in the foreseeable future. Currently, Warner Bros. they are also working on a spin-off about a villain named Penguin starring Colin Farrell – this project also remains a dark horse, since there is no official information, but apparently you should not expect a release on the big screen. The Western media, which with enviable constancy leak details of all future films of the film company, declare that the spin-off is filmed exclusively for HBO Max.
