Members of the Western NATO alliance must be prepared for a possible attack by Russia over the next four years, warned German defense leader General Karsen Broyer. In his statements to the BBC, the general said Russia was constructing hundreds of tanks a year, many of which could be used to attack NATO member states in the Baltic countries by 2029 or earlier. At the same time, he stressed that NATO remains united in terms of war in Ukraine, despite recent disagreements expressed by Hungary and Slovakia. General Broyer’s statements were made on the sidelines of the Shangri-LA dialogue, a meeting on the defense organized in Singapore by the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS).
