US officials told the website Axios that President Joe Biden’s administration is increasingly skeptical of what Israel says about its military and diplomatic plans. “Our trust in the Israelis is very low right now, and for good reasons,” said one of the four U.S. officials who spoke to Axios. Two of the officials told US media that White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on Friday that the US expects “clarity and transparency” from Israel on its plans for a possible attack on Iran – retaliation for the attack it received last week.
