The United States on Saturday expressed concern about Beijing’s efforts to “limit and manipulate” the visit of the head of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, to Xinjiang.
“The United States remains concerned about the visit of the head of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, and her team in the People’s Republic of China, and of (Beijing) efforts to restrict and manipulate the visit,” he said. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
He added that the conditions of the visit “did not allow for a full and independent assessment of the human rights situation in the People’s Republic of China, including Xinjiang.”
