Police in the capital of the United States, Washington DC, are investigating the disappearance of 17-year-old Brazilian Manuela Cohen. She left home on November 20th, around 4pm local time, and never returned.
Through social media, family members reported that Manuela sent a message to her parents the day after leaving home. She said she would be in Baltimore, Maryland, about 30 miles from Washington. The parents said she was with friends they don’t know and the young woman said she needed time alone. After this message, there was no further contact.
On Twitter, the police in the American capital describe Manuela as a girl measuring 1.68m, with blonde hair and green eyes. According to American authorities, the last time she was seen, she was wearing a dark green coat, black blouse and red sweatpants.
In a statement, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it is available to provide assistance to family members through the Consulate General of Brazil in Washington DC. Itamaraty also said that, by law, it cannot provide specific information about the case.
