Watch video: camera captures meteor showers in three states of Brazil

In the first minute of this Friday (15), Clima ao Vivo cameras caught a meteor shower in cities in Paraíba, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte.

The most relevant records occurred in João Pessoa (PB), Petrolândia (PE) and Serra Talhada (PE).

The phenomena are part of the Geminid meteor shower, which peaked between Wednesday (13) and Thursday (14), and is visible to the naked eye around the world.

This rain occurs annually around the month of December. According to NASA, it is “one of the best and most reliable annual meteor showers”.

The Geminids began to appear in the mid-19th century, and the first showers saw around 10 to 20 meteors seen per hour.

But the phenomenon grew and became one of the biggest rains of the year. During its peak, 120 meteors can be seen per hour in “perfect conditions”, according to information from NASA.
