Wave of heat scans the Balkans – fires in Northern Macedonia and Croatia

A new heat wave is affecting part of the Balkans today, with temperatures that could reach 42 degrees Celsius tomorrow Tuesday in northern Macedonia, where fire fronts remain active. Late in the afternoon, seven forest fires were ongoing in northern Macedonia, according to the Crisis Management Center in the country, which called on residents to “respect the measures and instructions addressed by the competent institutions for responsible behavior in the open spaces”. Some of the fronts have been raging for days, especially in Ezerani Natural Park, a protected area on the banks of the Prespa Lake.
