We aim to extend support to companies until the end of the year – Peter Altmaier

German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier, said on Friday that its goal is to extend aid for companies affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in six more months until the end of the year, as reported Reuters.

Altmaier further noted that talks are ongoing, adding that he hopes to see a decision before the summer vacation of parliament.

Similarly, German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said that aid for companies should be provided for as long as it is needed.

Market reaction

These comments do not appear to have a significant impact on market sentiment. At time of writing, Germany’s DAX 30 Index was up 0.12% on the day at 15,220.
