The national secretary of Civil Defense, Alexandre de Lucas, told the CNN that the release of resources for the municipalities of Pernambuco punished by the rain will occur as soon as the municipalities present information on the number of people affected and damages. This is expected to happen in a short time.
Fourteen municipalities in Pernambuco had a state of calamity recognized by the Ministry of Development this Monday (30th). “The release of resources depends a lot on the ability of municipalities to enter the request in the system”, explains the secretary.
The federal government offers training to teams to gather information, which helps when making requests for natural damages. The first transfers go to emergency assistance actions for the reception of residents.
“We are already starting to release resources for humanitarian assistance to affected people. Release of money for the purchase of basic food baskets, mattresses, dormitory kits, house cleaning kits, personal hygiene kits, fuel for vehicles, car rental. Everything that is necessary for a response”, said the national secretary of Civil Defense to the CNN .
