The player João Paulo, goalkeeper of Santos FC, made a statement on his social networks, together with his wife, Juliane Costa, after being the target of an invasion in a luxury building in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, this Tuesday- fair (1st).
In the publication, João highlighted that he was fine and that only his wife was there at the time of the invasion. “I wasn’t at home, I was at the Training Center treating [de uma lesão]. It was just Ju [sua esposa] here, but thank God nothing happened. Everyone is fine here, you can rest assured”, said the player.
Juliane, João Paulo’s wife, also spoke out on social media about the case and highlighted that it was an atypical day, but that she was fine.
The chief delegate of the 3rd DP of Santos, Liliane Lopes Doretto, reported that the four men were targeting a football player who lives in the building.
THE CNN contacted the Santos player’s staff, who confirmed that the athlete lives in the building, but countered that he was not there, therefore he would not be the target of the suspects.
Hostage invasion
On Tuesday morning (1st), armed criminals took hostages inside a luxury building located in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo.
According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), as soon as they noticed the presence of police officers at the scene, the suspects tried to escape. In the attempt, one of them was injured, while the others invaded the building and took six hostages.

After being injured, the suspect was taken to Santa Casa.
According to the police, the building’s doorman was also involved in the action with the individuals.
The case will be presented at the 3rd DP of Santos as qualified robbery, criminal association, attempted murder and qualified damage.
