Podemos reported this Tuesday (8) that it accepted the request for disaffiliation of state deputy Arthur do Val, known as “Mamãe Falei”. In a video, he also informed that he will leave the Free Brazil Movement (MBL).
“So I made the decision to step away from everything a little bit, away from MBL. I’ll leave. I know how it is, they’re calling me. And no, I will walk away. I’m getting in the way, I’m going out”, said the deputy.
The decision comes after sexist audios made by the deputy were released on the internet. In the case, he stated that “Ukrainians are easy because they are poor”.
The Podemos press office confirmed to the reporter from CNN Tainá Falcão, who received and accepted the disaffiliation of the deputy, in view of the opening of the disciplinary process that could result in the removal of the congressman. He had been affiliated with the party for about 30 days.
The list of deputies who represented against Arthur do Val mixes representatives of opposing parties, from the left and right. There have been twelve requests for cassation so far, signed individually or collectively by 26 deputies – three collective requests and nine individual requests.

Do Val went to Ukraine last week to, according to him, “see what is happening ‘in loco‘” during the invasion of the country by Russian forces, led by President Vladimir Putin. Upon leaving the country, he sent voice messages in which he made sexist comments about Ukrainian refugees.

On Saturday (5), upon landing in Brazil, he acknowledged the veracity of the audios and apologized for the leaked contents.
“What I said was wrong, that’s not what I think. What I said was a mistake in a moment of excitement. For the love of God, people, the impression is that I got there and there were a lot of people and I said ‘who wants to come with me here, I’m going to buy something?’. That’s not it, nor could it. Even in the audios, in a jocular, informal way, I say that I didn’t have time to do anything at all. I don’t even have time to shower, I haven’t had a shower for three days,” he said.
