An unimaginable tragedy lives in Valencia, Spain, with the country counting at least 95 dead from the sudden floods. “I heard strange noises from the road and when I looked out I saw that the road had turned into a river. I couldn’t believe it because it wasn’t even raining,” a resident of the affected area told the BBC. He later saw “cars floating in the water” and “the water broke some walls.” He himself was safe, but some of his “friends lost their homes” and “I don’t know where people are.” Serena, in Gandia, says “many of my friends are stuck in the city, unable to return to their villages, while some of them don’t know if their relatives and friends are alive or dead.” In her town, she says “the roads are completely destroyed” and supermarkets are empty and “there is not enough bottled water for everyone”.
