“We hacked Nvidia.” Hackers who hacked Nvidia’s internal network demand that the anti-mining protection of GeForce RTX 30 video cards be disabled

Last week it became known about the attack on the internal network of Nvidia, and now the hackers have made themselves known. They reported being on the Nvidia system for about a week and gaining admin-level access to many resources.

“We hacked Nvidia.” Hackers who hacked Nvidia’s internal network demand that the anti-mining protection of GeForce RTX 30 video cards be disabled

As a result, about 1 TB of important data was copied, including internal software solutions and utilities, drivers, developer kits (SDKs), various schemes. The hackers wanted to make direct contact with Nvidia, probably to get a ransom for the stolen data, but the company is not negotiating. As a result, in the near future, important stolen data may be in the public domain. Part has already been published.

The hackers focused on the fact that they already have a solution for removing anti-mining protection from video cards based on GA102 and GA104 GPUs, that is, top-end GeForce RTX 30 video cards from the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and higher.

One of the latest requirements is to disable anti-mining protection on all GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards by releasing updated firmware. If Nvidia (and, of course, its partners) do this, then the hackers promise to “forget about the hw folder”, which, apparently, contains the keys to disable cryptocurrency mining restrictions imposed on LHR video cards.

The hackers have already made part of the stolen data publicly available, followed by a complaint to the corresponding telegram channel with a direct link to download this data. Now the hackers are ready to upload the data to the torrent.
