European diplomacy leader Kaya Calas said today that western countries now have a 30 -day scope for finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis with the Iranian nuclear program. “We are entering a new 30 -day phase (…) which we really have to use to find diplomatic solutions,” he said before the EU meeting in Copenhagen, the day after the decision taken by Europeans to activate the mechanism that provides for a reinstatement of one month of international sanctions. This request is expected to be considered today by the UN Security Council. Yesterday, Islamic Foreign Minister Abbas Arakzi stressed in a letter that Iran is ready to return to “fair” talks on his nuclear program, as long as the West shows “good will”. This statement came a few hours after the movement of three European governments to reinstate UN sanctions against Tehran. Source: RES
