We have a pretty lopsided recovery – Andrew Bailey

The Governor of the Bank of England (BoE), Andrew Bailey, acknowledged on Monday that the economic recovery in the UK is “quite lopsided,” as reported Reuters.

“Hopefully that imbalance will narrow as more services markets reopen since the lockdown,” Bailey added. “The risk of high inflation expectations taking hold is not our core view.”

Market reaction

These comments do not appear to have a noticeable impact on the performance of the British pound against its main rivals. At the time of writing, the pair GBP/USD it was virtually unchanged on the day at 1.4148.
