“We made the wrong decision.” Sony changed its mind to close PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita

About a week ago, Sony stunned users with the news of the imminent closure of the PlayStation Store for the PS3 and PS Vita consoles. Yes, these are old game consoles, but they still have a lot of users, and this news greatly upset the fans. The users of the American Reddit forum reacted especially violently to this decision, while Sony has a very large audience of gamers in the United States. Apparently, in order not to aggravate the situation and exacerbate the conflict, Sony reversed its decision.

Recall that initially Sony planned to close the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 3 until July 2, and the PlayStation Store for the PS Vita on August 27. The resources thus freed up were to be used to support the PS Store for PS4 and PS5. Now the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment and the head of the PlayStation Jim Ryan (Jim Ryan) said that earlier the company “made the wrong decision.” And he added:

We can now see that many of you are incredibly passionate about continuing to buy classic PS3 and PS Vita games for the foreseeable future, so I’m glad we were able to find a solution to keep going.

In general, PS3 and PS Vita users can stop panicking – at least this year, the PlayStation Store will continue to function for them in the same mode.
