M.Video-Eldorado Group has published statistics on the results of the Russian smartphone market in 2020. The driving force behind 2020, analysts say, is innovation in photography and video.

The biggest growth was shown by smartphones with triple and quadruple cameras. The share of smartphones with a quad camera increased from 2% to 24.5%. The share of smartphones with triple cameras reached 22%, increasing by 8 percentage points. Another 20.5% fell on devices with two photo modules and 33% on smartphones with one photo module, having lost 16 pp over the year.

Huawei P40 Pro Plus has the maximum number of cameras among smartphones on the Russian market. In total, this smartphone has seven photomodules – five lenses for the main camera and two for the front camera.

Among the unusual form factors are the Samsung Galaxy Fold folding smartphone with a block of three main and three front cameras and smartphones with PTZ cameras – Samsung Galaxy A80, Asus ZenFone 7 Pro.

The share of models with a main camera with a resolution of 10 to 20 Mp in units was 51%, and the highest dynamics was demonstrated by smartphones with a camera with a resolution of more than 30 Mp. The largest number of megapixels was found in the cameras of several flagship smartphones Xiaomi and Samsung, equipped with a 108-megapixel sensor. The share of smartphones with a front camera with a resolution of more than 10 megapixels has reached 45%.
