We need more weapons, says Ukraine’s foreign minister

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in a live broadcast on Sunday that his country needed more international help with the donation of military equipment to continue the fight against Russia.

“We need more ammunition, weapons, equipment to fight, to defend our country. We especially need anti-missile, anti-tank and anti-poaching equipment,” said Kuleba.

In his speech, the minister called for a tougher stance from the countries that support Ukraine, going so far as to say that the name of those who are on Russia’s side will go down in history.

“Russia does not seem ready to end the war, so I urge you to attack Russia firmly, attack Russia now. It’s a matter of hours and not days,” she declared.

Kuleba also defended the strategy involving the Swift system, which is the world’s leading international financial transaction network. “It’s important that she [Rússia] be disconnected from the Swift system as strongly as possible, from every bank possible.”

In addition to economic sanctions, the minister suggested that countries also use energy matrices as a sanction against Russia. “We also call for a total embargo on Russian oil and gas. This gas and this oil also contain Ukrainian blood. Anyone buying should be ashamed to do so,” Kuleba said.

Regarding the meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, confirmed today by President Volodymyr Zelensky, the minister said that it is an advance. But he attributed Russian willingness to talk to losses suffered by Vladimir Putin’s troops. In the official’s assessment, Russian forces did not expect so much Ukrainian resistance.
