In an interview with CNNthe student and founder of Frente BrazUCra explained how the group works to help rescue people who are trying to flee Ukraine in the midst of the war.
“I am in Poland, arriving to allocate a Ukrainian family of three. The group emerged to provide solidarity, it grew and now we have an international rescue operation,” she said.
She stated that this is “a structured operation”: “We started on the same day as the war, we have subgroups that deal with legal issues, IT, press office, land and international operation.”
“We can rescue any nationality, our focus was on Brazilians, but there is a need for other nationalities, we work to help them”, he added.
There are several nuances to carrying out a rescue: “Each operation takes more or less 24 hours, this is on the ground rescues part and has the logistics operation that guides people to the correct border, train stations, buses, various nationalities.”
According to Clara, the indignation in the face of the war gave rise to the need for BrazUcra: “No one understands how this can happen, it is a show of strength by civil society, which is more organized against the war.”
The organizer reported that “every day he enters Ukraine, he leaves with a new story” and that she has had “many meetings that demanded a lot of emotion”: “Today, I don’t speak Ukrainian at all, but I watched a father having to say goodbye to the wife and small children and put their lives in the hands of a total stranger. It was a difficult day.”
