This Wednesday (8) marks one month of criminal acts in Brasilia on January 8.
Since then, 1,406 people have been arrested in flagrante delicto and R$ 18.5 million worth of blocked assets.
In an interview with CNN Radio political scientist Claudio Couto assesses that “we show an important capacity for reaction” in the face of an episode of this type.
“We see it through the investigation and accountability of people, who were identified in acts of depredation of public and even intangible assets, such as destroyed works of art, and of financiers”, he explained.
Couto highlighted that the “last stage” is to reach the intellectual architects of the acts, since it is “hard to believe that it was spontaneously” that the depredation began.
He also cited the lenient behavior of public officials during January 8.
In the investigations, however, the political scientist said he believed that the “PGR, Judiciary, Federal Police act diligently.”
In Claudio Couto’s assessment, Bolsonarism “weakened because it lost legitimacy”, but it is not possible to predict whether this will last or whether support will be resumed.
