Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Epcot
Latest attraction, the long-awaited movie-inspired roller coaster “Guardians of the Galaxy” went live on May 27 at Epcot.
Disney’s first reverse-launch roller coaster, the attraction is already super popular – even a virtual queue has been launched in the company’s app to make life easier for the brave.
Located in the “World Discovery” area, it is one of the largest fully closed roller coasters in the world. As usual at Disney, the line is filled with storytelling and is already an attraction in themselves: visitors go through different environments, enjoy some objects and can still see projections from the original guardians – Marvel movies characters. There is even a special appearance by actress Glenn Close, who quickly represses her role as Nova Prime.

After closing the safety locks and starting the tour, tourists are then thrown back and then try different directions, as the cart rotates on its own axis. Sudden drops, sharp turns and lots of spins are experienced during the ride – there is no reversal.
The path, however, is fully immersive (you can barely see the tracks), as the whole environment is covered in projections, and the brave ones follow the intergalactic battle that is the theme of the attraction. The feeling is of really being in space, where the Milky Way, the Moon, the Earth and countless stars pass alongside the carts.
Spoiler: The visuals are amazing and the experience is even more fun with the soundtrack, which contains six different songs that are played randomly.
They are: “September”, by Earth, Wind & Fire; “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps; “Conga” by Gloria Estefan; “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears; “I Ran (So Far Away)”, de A Flock of Seagulls, e “One Way or Another”, de Blondie.
The roller coaster is about 1.7 km long and to experience it, visitors must be at least 1.07 m tall. Fun facts: the first roller coaster inside Epcot, the attraction was scheduled to open in 2021, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and opened in place of the former “Universe of Energy” pavilion.
Ice Breaker – Seaworld
SeaWorld’s first launch coaster, Icebreaker, opened in February this year after several delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The sixth roller coaster at the theme park, it is built completely outdoors, and its orange tracks already draw attention from afar.
The queue has no storytelling, but it puts visitors very close to the tracks, who hear the screams of passengers below. The ride begins with passengers being placed in another platform, which throws them back, throws them on a steep climb and then throws them forward until it reaches speed to follow a path full of closed curves and falls – no inversions in attraction.
Her differentiator? It is considered the steepest roller coaster in Florida, reaching an angle of 100 degrees on a descent of almost 29 meters high. In addition, it reaches 84 km/h. It is very fast and passengers come out of the seats during the sudden peaks.
The cart has a total of 18 seats and visitors are seated in pairs. To face the attraction it is necessary to be at least 1.37 m tall. Recently, the SeaWorld announced a seventh roller coaster for 2023, making it Orlando’s most roller coaster park
VelociCoaster – Universal’s Islands of Adventure
Opened exactly one year ago, only recently have Brazilians – and the rest of the world – been able to begin to experience the radical attraction of the opening of the US borders. New within the Jurassic Park area at Islands of Adventure park, It was considered Florida’s most intense roller coaster at the time of launch.
Bordering the park’s lake, the attraction is all based on the films of the “Jurassic Park” . In line, wait for replicas of dinosaurs that are beyond realistic, hungry velociraptors – which even move and scare visitors – and themed rooms that take passengers into an atmosphere of pure adrenaline.
At some point, all objects carried by passengers must be placed in a locker – tickets with barcodes are handed out and visitors can retrieve their belongings after rotating the toy.
With the locks closed, the adventure begins. Based on a chase, the roller coaster consists of two sections of launches, in which the first reaches 80 km/h in 2 seconds. The second one, however, is the strongest, and the passengers are thrown about 112 km/h in 2.4 seconds
Altogether there are 1.4 km of trails, many radical maneuvers and four inversions – one of which leaves visitors upside down for a long time. The attraction mixes landscapes full of vegetation on land and also passes over the waters of the park’s lake, increasing the fun.
