The Singapore Airlines plane that made an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand today had gone into midair while inside Thai airspace and then encountered severe turbulence. One person has died and seven others are in critical condition, a senior airport official said. Suvarnabhumi Airport general manager Kitipong Kitikatsorn said at a news conference that a 73-year-old British man had died, possibly of a heart attack. The seven seriously injured have brain injuries. One crew member is also being treated.
