The minister of Regional Development, Rogério Marinho, said in an interview with CNN, this Wednesday (29), that the federal government has acted in conjunction with the Civil Defense of Bahia’s city halls to support the population affected by the large volume of rain that hits the state.
According to him, three actions are considered for the current moment and it is necessary to know the size of the problem. “We will do reception, mapping and reconstruction. We still don’t have a forecast of the total resources needed, this will only happen when the municipalities identify the damage caused.”
Marinho reinforced that he has worked directly and talked to ministers from other ministries to help the Bahian population in the aforementioned actions, in addition to monitoring the needs of the state of Bahia on a daily basis.
“Our duty is to monitor and support this population affected by the rains, not just in Bahia. We are willing to do whatever it takes to support this population. We have a structure available to Bahia. We are doing our part in this first moment, which is welcoming”, said Marinho.
He also criticized the discussion about the visit of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to places affected by the rains.
“A sad moment for our country, of disaster, we don’t need a war of narratives. We are present there. The president seeks us out daily to understand the situation. Its presence or not, does not decrease or increase the intensity of the support that has already been given to the state of Bahia. What people want to know is whether the population of Bahia is being supported”, he added.
