The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, said that Brazil could grow 3% by the end of the year. “Brazil is condemned to grow”. For Guedes, economic growth can guarantee a salary increase for the civil service “forward”.
According to the Minister, Brazil underwent an “invisible” administrative reform and had an austere government with the digitization of services, reduced machine costs and three years without salary readjustments for public servants. He pondered about giving a salary increase “in the future, we will certainly do it”, if there is an improvement in the economy.
The minister also stated that the unemployment rate will drop to 8% by the end of the year and that, in the future, the IPI will be reduced until it is extinguished. Guedes pointed out that the economic crisis in Argentina, the tragedy of Brumadinho, the pandemic and the War in Ukraine were the main factors that hampered Brazilian GDP in recent years.
The minister spoke about the current scenario of the Brazilian economy, at an event held by the São Paulo Commercial Association of the districts of Mooca, São Miguel, Penha and Tatuapé, all districts of the east side of the city of São Paulo.
