“We will not tolerate any attack,” says Biden about car crash in New Orleans

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, issued a statement this Wednesday (1st) condemning the New Orleans car crash that killed at least 10 people and left around 35 injured.

Earlier, the Democrat had contacted the city’s mayor, LaToya Cantrell, to offer support in the investigations.

“The FBI took the lead in the investigation and is investigating what happened as an act of terrorism,” said the president.

Biden says he has instructed his team to ensure that “all resources are available as authorities work to get to the bottom of what happened as quickly as possible and to ensure there are no remaining threats of any kind.”

According to the Democrat, he will receive updates throughout the day and will speak again as soon as he receives more information.

“In the meantime, my heart goes out to the victims and families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday. There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities,” said the president.

The leader also said he was grateful for what he called “the courageous and rapid response of local authorities in preventing further deaths and injuries.”

Car crash leaves at least 10 dead in New Orleans

At least 10 people died and another 35 were injured after a vehicle hit a crowd in New Orleans, on Canal and Bourbon Street, the city’s tourist streets.

Federal agents are checking for possible improvised explosives at the site.

The man driving the truck shot at police officers, police superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said Wednesday morning.

The attack in the popular French Quarter came just hours before the city was set to host The Sugar Bowl, an annual college football game that draws fans from across the country, with the University of Georgia taking on Notre Dame.
